Black Lives Matters Of Greater Atlanta Reacts To Capture Of Escaped Georgia Inmates
Black Lives Matters of Greater Atlanta is reacting with outrage following the captures of escaped inmates Donnie Russell Rowe, 43, and Ricky Dubose, 24, Thursday in Tennessee. The pair allegedly committed a number of heinous acts including killing two Georgia prison guards, escaping jail, carjacking a driver, committing a home invasion on an elderly couple and shooting at Tennessee cops yet police arrested the criminal pair Thursday without shooting, killing or even hurting them. Their capture is a stark contrast to the numerous shootings and killings of blacks, some who were unarmed and innocent, at the hands of police. The group released the following statement Friday, which reads in part:While our hearts are extremely heavy for the loss of members of our law enforcement community, Sgt. Christopher Monica and Sgt. Curtis Billue Black Lives Matter is now compelled to speak out on our discontent with the news coverage and law enforcement handling of these murders. The fact is two Georgia inmates have been captured after escaping custody, murdering (2) GA Prison Guards, held an elderly couple hostage, carjacked someone, shot at TN Cops. Never once SHOT, BEAT, MACED or TAZED. It is a fact that WHITE COPS will do everything to possible to PRESERVE A WHITE LIFE regardless if the crime is heinous. It is baffling, to see how no news agency is throwing insults or calling these inmates/ murderers (Thugs, terrorists, criminals, savages etc) The most outrageous thing about this entire ordeal is that these THUGS were TAKEN IN ALIVE and “UNHARMED” in-fact Putnam County Sheriff Sills was quoted on national television saying "The inmates were unharmed and there were no reports of injuries to law enforcement personnel." Sir Maejor Page, President of Black Lives Matter Greater Atlanta says “This is why we are necessary and we scream “BLACK LIVES MATTER” because American police officers give the order to shoot black people on sight, we see time and time again black folks are killed for less than that, like for the smell of Marijuana, or selling CD’s or loose cigarettes.“They definitely have a point. Can you imagine anything like this ever going down if the suspects were black? Hit the flip for more details on Rowe and Dubose's capture https://twitter.com/mteichnerfox5/status/875692006961549312 We won't even go into HOW suspect it is that two violent criminals were able to escape prison in the first place BUT we do want to give you the details of what happened. According to Fox News reports Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Nelly Miles said Rowe and Dubose were captured in Christiana, Tenn., about an hour southeast of Nashville after police in Shelbyville, Tenn. responded to a call about a home invasion, where Rowe and Dubose held an elderly couple captive and then fled in the couple's vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and were in pursuit of the pair when the inmates wrecked the car, leaving it behind to flee on foot. Officers were able to apprehend the men and take them into custody in Christiana. Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said Rowe and Dubose surrendered after fleeing into the woods. Sills said shots were fired, but did specify by whom.
The inmates were unharmed and there were no reports of injuries to law enforcement personnel.Prior to their capture their was an intense manhunt for Rowe and Dubose after they allgedly overpowered and killed Sgt. Christopher Monica and Sgt. Curtis Billue early Tuesday on a bus carrying 33 inmates between prisons southeast of Atlanta. Authorities offered a $130,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the fugitives, whom Sills had called "dangerous beyond description." Following the murders of the two officers, Rowe and Dubose allegedly carjacked a driver who pulled up behind the bus, fleeing in his Honda Civic along state Highway 16 in Putnam County, southeast of Atlanta. The pair were tracked 25 miles north to Madison, where they allegedly found a home where they stole food and clothes before leaving their prison uniforms behind around 10;30 am Tuesday. 12 hours later the convicts are believed to have stolen a Ford pickup truck from a nearby rock quarry. Rowe has been serving a life without parole sentence since 2002, and Dubos began his 20-year sentence in 2015. Both were convicted of armed robbery and other violent crimes. Why is it you think these two men were captured alive and not killed? Or tased? Or maced? Racist or nah? Fox 5 Atlanta
