Kardashians Accused Of Discriminating Against The Disabled
Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian have reached a settlement with a man who accused the reality stars of discriminating against the blind.
The sisters agreed to a confidential deal, which states the man will dismiss the entire lawsuit against them and their Dash Boutique.
Andres Gomez filed a Federal Lawsuit against the Kardashian sisters-owned Dash Boutique Inc. accusing the reality stars of discriminating against people with disabilities.
He accused the sisters of not taking necessary steps to notice people that their store’s online website limits those with disabilities from using it and segregates the disabled into being non-participants, ie “second-class citizens.” The man said when a company’s website is not fully accessible to all, it’s essentially a bad business practice, a detriment to their stake holders, the disabled and society.
The man explained the vision and blind population is expected to double by 2050 and it is essential that low vision and blind individuals are not excluded from society and segregated in area of web commerce. Gomez accuses the Kardashians of not operating its business in a manner that allows people with vision disabilities to enjoy or shop on their website.
Gomez was a customer interested in purchasing items from the Dash website but due to the limitations, wasn’t able to shop there.
“The opportunity to shop for clothes designed by the Kardashians available exclusively at Dash boutiques or online from his home is an important accommodation for the Plaintiff, because traveling outside the home as a blind individual is a difficult and frightening experience,” he said in court papers.
He slapped the Kardashian sisters with a Federal lawsuit demanding declaratory and injunctive relief ordering the reality stars to fix their website to not discriminate against the disabled along with compensatory damages to compensate him for having been subjected to unlawful discrimination
Then on December 6th, Gomez filed docs in the case explaining he has reached a settlement with Kim, Khloe and Kourtney.
Court papers obtained by BOSSIP state that parties have reached an agreement that will be executed by the Kardashians. Further, the terms of the deal will remain confidential, Under the deal’s terms, all claims will be dismissed against Dash Boutique and the owners aka the reality stars.
The case will be closed by the judge once the deal has been fully executed.
